Roskilde Festival 2009

Thursday
- Katzenjammer at Pavillion: Well done. Fun, weird music. ****
- The Gaslight Anthem at Odeon: The band description said Bruce Springsteen like with a bit of punk added. Description was correct. ***
- Mew at Arena: Mew is Mew. They did their stuff. Good concert! ****
Friday
- Orka at Astoria: Very energetic people playing garden tools. Turned out to be pretty good. ***
- Pablo Moses & U-Roy at Odeon: Supposed to be reggae hip-hop but I think is sounded just like reggae. I didn't recognize the hip-hop. But it was good reggae and well played. ***
- Faith No More at Orange: They came. They played. They conquered. ****

- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds: Boring. Sorry. I guess it was nice chill-out music I admit I left this concert early and some more action seems to have happened later. **
- Oasis at Orange: They just played, They even seemed to like it. Good. ***
Saturday
- Balstyrko at Odeon: Pop and hip-hop mixed, supplementing each other and never boring, delivered with precision and skill. ****

- And you will know us by the trail of dead at Odeon: Noise rock. They probably deserved a closer inspection than I gave them. From where I sat it sounded worthwhile. ***
- Elbow at Arena: Melodic and ambitious soft rock with real instruments which was not suited for Arena where all the details gets lost. ****
- I got you on Tape at Odeon: Really really good. These guys can play. Plain pop I guess but good pop, and oh how they deliver it! *****
- Lily Allen at Arena: I didn't expect this to be a great concert but I think it was. She could fill arena, the atmosphere was right, the timing was right, it was just a great party to be there. Well done. ****
- Pet Shop Boys at Orange: Oh you should be ashamed of yourselves
You killed your audience. You could have delivered such a great show and all you want to do is flash your new album, which BTW is very uninteresting. Off course it must be hard to change your show to suit the audience when everything is playback... But you should have known. This was not a fan concert, this was a broad Roskilde audience and you have so many songs you could have played! You get 2 stars for Heartbeat, Go West, It's a sin, Always on my mind, and West end Girls, and the two songs from Fundamental. **
Sunday
- Pete Doherty at Arena: This man knows how to play live! It was such a great show and there was only him and his guitar. He played Arena just like that, and it did not seem like he had a great master plan. He charmed the audience, he kept all the "gifts" he got thrown onto the stage, like a banner, a student hat. a necklace, a bikini etc. He threw cans of beer to the audience from the stage, he started playing a song and then "No that doesn't work" and then he just did something else. His music is good, his deliverance is sublime. *****
White Lies at Odeon: Very good rock music, well played. They did not really play the audience but they still played well. ****
